Before anything else, find the stopcock and turn it clockwise until the water stops. Then call, and you will not be on your own while you wait.
No heating or hot water
No heat in a Chorley winter is a proper emergency when there are young children or elderly relatives at home. I find out what has actually failed before fitting anything.
If you smell gas
Leave the plumber until later. Call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 and get everyone outside. After they have made it safe, I can repair or replace the appliance that caused it.
